I am an electronics engineer by training, and for most of my working life have been employed in the publishing sector, developing new products and services for printed and electronic publications and online media.
I have always been interested in the idea of recording people’s life stories to make them available for future generations to listen to, enjoy and learn from. The availability of portable digital recording equipment and PC-based editing software has made this process efficient, flexible, and interesting. Audio life stories can be tailored to the individual needs of our clients, using professional recording techniques, as an alternative to providing written stories.
As a member of the Oral History Society, I have completed several training and workshop sessions to develop my skills as an audio biographer, including interview techniques, ethics, recording equipment and digital editing.
My main role within
The Audio Biographers
is to edit our clients’ stories once they have been recorded by our team of biographers. I also provide technical support to the team in their use of digital recording equipment and to our clients with answering any questions they may have about our products and services.
